Assistant Director (Camper Care)
If you are looking to make a deep impact on your camp community, are passionate about the wellbeing and care of campers, and are comfortable speaking with parents daily then this position is for you. You have an interest in healthy childhood development, ensuring our campers thrive in our community, and coach front line staff to provide the best care possible. Responsible for the overall success of our campers and promoting open communication lines between campers and staff. 21+, Standard First Aid, NLS encouraged, Ropes, G License.
Assistant Director : Day Camp Supervisor
If you like running the show, making decisions, staff mentoring and coaching, planning and organizing, following up with parents and staff this position is for you. Responsible for the overall success of the Ki-Wa-Y Days program, staffing, facilitation, supervision, communication, and problem solving. 19+, Standard First Aid, NL encouraged, Ropes, G License preferred.
Head Cook
You want to participate in camp life and fun while ensuring campers and staff are fueled for their busy day, you are willing to put in the hustle but don’t want to be the one in charge. Responsible for working as a team, preparing the Health Hut Salad Bar and following all cleanliness and safety regulations. 18+, Food Safety, Standard First Aid.
Waterfront Supervisor
If you are passionate about boating and safety, love to share and teach your knowledge, and want to help mentor and coach this opportunity is for you. Responsible for overall safety, maintenance, and upkeep of the waterfront, assistance in direct delivery of waterfront program and lifeguarding. 19+, Standard First Aid, NLS, LSS Instructors (an asset).
LIT Trainer
If you want to be a coach and mentor, help others succeed and find the leaders within them, being an LIT Trainer is for you. You are positive, passionate, and enjoy teaching and motivating others. You want to share your knowledge and work towards building a positive camp culture. Responsible for the delivery of the LIT program. 18+, Standard First Aid, NLS Preferred, LSS Instructors (an asset).
Counseling Support Staff
If you are passionate about giving our counseling staff the best possible support, training and coaching to set them up for success then this is the job for you. You will be the direct support for our counseling staff team responsible for providing ongoing staff feedback, coordinating staff events, special staff recognitions and appreciations. You are a positive role model that understands the power of camp and will demonstrate that passion for our staff team. 18+, Standard First Aid, Ropes, NLS Preferred, LSS Instructors (an asset).
Special Programs Coordinator
If you see the big picture of camp, have great organizational skills, high creativity and can schedule like no one else, then apply for this position. You can help set the tone for all the fun at camp and ensure our campers have an amazing summer. Responsible for all special programming including Evening Programs, Special Programs, Themed Meals, Paradise Options. You are overly enthusiastic and passionate about making memories for our campers. 19+, Standard First Aid, NLS, Ropes.
CIT Trainer
If you are passionate about giving our CITs the best possible support, training and coaching to set them up for success then this is the job for you. Health and Wellness Supervisor
If you are caring and compassionate, have the ability to show empathy, and enjoy helping others the Health & Wellness Manager position maybe for you. Responsible for the overall health and wellness of the campers and staff, works with Camper Care Manager to ensure campers needs are being met. 21+, Standard First Aid, NLS encouraged, G License.
Stream Head
Responsible for the delivery of specific program streams (Traditions, Wind & Water, Rocks & Ropes, Canvas & Clay, Survive & Thrive). This role involved creativity and enthusiasm, working with the counselling team to ensure high quality programs and lessons. 18+, Standard First Aid, NLS (Wind & Water), Ropes (Traditions & Rocks & Ropes).
Office Administrator
You are the first person our parents see and speak to when they arrive or give us a call. You alongside the Director to ensure that our families are receiving the best possible customer service at all times. You are responsible for managing emails and phone calls to our office, keep staff and camper paperwork organized, delivering mail, and prepping for upcoming camper arrivals. 18+, Standard First Aid.
Training & Development
If you are looking to make a significant impact on the development of LITs, CITs and staff then this is the role for you. Responsible for the overall success of the LIT and CIT program, along with the ongoing support of the Director, to ensure that LITs and CITs are achieving the desired outcomes of the program. Engage and lead ongoing coaching, development and training of all staff throughout the summer.
Communications
If you are passionate about photography and creative media then this role is for you. This role engages with all aspects of camp capturing the greatest moments of the summer and sharing meaningful memories with camper families.
Day Camp Inclusion
You will work alongside one camper to support their needs to integrate into the camp program. In this position you will be asked to support campers with special needs, behavioural challenges, or additional concerns that show they need a helping hand at camp. You will work closely with the site supervisor to ensure campers needs are being met, and maintaining the safety of all campers. There is additional training provided for this role, as such candidates must be able to start June 17. This position would live off site and commute to camp daily receiving an hourly wage. 18+ preferred.
Cleaner
You are a highly motivated, are a self-starter and enjoy independent work. You have an eye for detail, like to clean and organize, do maintenance and help out in the background with all of the little odd jobs around camp. Responsible for working with the Director to ensure the overall cleanliness and aesthetics of the camp (cleaning washrooms, garbage, cutting lawn, painting, etc.). 18+, Standard First Aid.
Counselor
If you want to give campers the time of their life, be a positive role model and mentor and help campers achieve the extraordinary while at camp then the Camp Counselor position may be ideal for you. Responsible for the direct care of our campers. 17+, Standard First Aid, Bronze Cross, NLS encouraged.
Additional Information
Camp Equitable Employment Fund
Camp Ki-Wa-Y is excited to be offering the YMCA Camp Equitable Employment Fund (CEEF) to our staff applicants. CEEF is a grant implemented across all YMCA overnight camps in Canada to decrease barriers to employment at camps for people traditionally marginalized and underrepresented in the camping industry. The fund is open to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) Canadians aged 17 to 25 with previous experience or a demonstrated interest in working with youth. No previous camp-specific experience is required.
Successful applicants receive financial assistance to offset the personal expenses of working in the outdoor industry, including certification courses, personal gear, equipment, and travel costs.
Funding will be awarded to successful applicants who have been offered a position at a YMCA overnight camp in Canada in the order applications are received and based upon available funding. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply for funding as soon as possible.
