Position Summary
Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Encapsulation Operator
Work Schedule : 12 hour rotating continental shifts (Days and Nights).
This position is 100% on-site at the Strathroy site. This location in Strathroy, Ontario offers softgel development and manufacturing capabilities for the Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health industries. We have a broad range of integrated formulation, manufacturing, analytical and packaging services to offer full-service turnkey solutions.
Responsibilities
Set up the encapsulation machines and operate them according to Standard Operating Procedures, producing quality product. Activities include checking fill and shell weights, measuring seam integrity, changing fill and gel tanks / receivers, and performing necessary corrective adjustments.
Spread capsules on trays, check capsules for defects, compile trays into stacks, label and transfer stacks to the assigned drying tunnel.
Verify all gelatin and fill tanks conform to temperature, color, batch number, and receiver sequences for the order before placing on the machine, following corrective actions as needed.
Monitor encapsulation machine and capsules throughout the shift for issues and implement corrections as needed.
Complete all required documentation, including in-process checks, set-ups, start-ups, and changeovers.
Change and clean machine parts as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED / CAEC and / or educational credential assessment (ECA) is required; additional education is an asset.
2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical and / or GMP facility is preferred.
Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures is an asset.
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to schedule.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and mathematical skills, including basic calculations (addition, subtraction, percentages, rounding numbers, and converting weights and measurements).
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Currently Catalent does not participate in the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).
Candidates with non-Canadian credentials must provide an evaluation confirming Canadian equivalency (e.g., ACESC / WES).
The role may involve manual dexterity with hands and fingers, including handling and keyboard use.
Occasional standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, with close vision capabilities and potential exposure to chemicals.
