The Correctional Psychiatrist provides psychiatric care to inmates within a correctional facility. Responsibilities include conducting psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions, prescribing and managing medications, and developing treatment plans for inmates with mental health and substance use disorders.
The psychiatrist collaborates with correctional staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and effective care.

Responsibilities :
Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments of inmates.
Diagnose and treat mental health and substance use disorders.
Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
Monitor inmate progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
Maintain detailed and confidential clinical records.
Collaborate with correctional staff and other healthcare providers.
Provide crisis intervention and support within the correctional setting.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case consultations.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) with a specialization in Psychiatry.
Current CA state licensure and board certification in Psychiatry.
Contract Role :
Full or Part Time Employment
Part-time must work 3 days minimum
Weekend opportunities are available
Flexible scheduling options are available, allowing for either 8 or 10-hour workdays.
