Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our products and services meets the highest standards.
This is a key role that involves overseeing quality control processes and implementing improvements to enhance overall quality assurance.
Duties :
- Lead the QA team in monitoring and enforcing quality control processes throughout the food production cycle, from raw materials to finished products.
- Ensure that all food safety and quality assurance activities comply with local, Provincial, and international regulations, including HACCP, GMP, and other relevant standards.
- Prepare for and manage internal and external audits, ensuring that all quality systems and processes are documented and maintained according to industry standards.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan, ensuring that all critical control points are monitored and managed effectively.
- Develop and oversee product testing procedures, including microbiological testing, to ensure that all products meet safety and quality standards.
- Work closely with the on-site CFIA to ensure that all quality assurance practices align with health and safety protocols, contributing to a safe working environment.
- Train and mentor QA staff on best practices, food safety regulations, and quality control procedures, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
- Identify areas for process improvement within the production line and work collaboratively with the production supervisor and other departments to implement changes.
- Evaluate and monitor the quality of raw materials and ingredients from suppliers, ensuring that they meet the required specifications and standards.
- Maintain detailed records of all quality assurance activities, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports, corrective actions, and audit results.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to product quality, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Lead the response to quality-related incidents or product recalls, ensuring that all actions are taken swiftly and effectively to protect consumers and the company's reputation.
- Serve as the lead for the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), guiding and coordinating with other JHSC members to enhance safety measures in the workplace and address any safety concerns proactively.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance within the federal licensed food processing industry, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- HACCP certification is required; additional certifications such as SQF, BRC, or ISO 22000 are preferred.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations and standards, including FDA, USDA, and HACCP, GMP.
- Proven ability to lead, manage, and develop a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in using quality management software and tools for data analysis and reporting.
