Position Summary
We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to support the planning, design, and detailing of mechanical systems for a variety of industrial and commercial projects. This position involves developing detailed drawings and design packages for both new construction and upgrades to existing facilities. The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on design experience, strong technical drafting skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare plans, drawings, 3D models, specifications, and quantity take‑offs using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAD software.
- Support Engineers in developing mechanical system layouts for HVAC, piping, process, and utility systems.
- Process preliminary design data and assist in preparing documents for all stages of design development.
- Conduct field measurements to verify existing or as‑built conditions.
- Ensure drawings meet established CAD and Revit standards and internal quality procedures.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure designs align with project requirements.
- Recommend updates to design standards, workflows, or practices for improved efficiency.
- Perform limited on‑site construction inspections to confirm compliance with design intent.
Qualifications
Diploma or technical degree in Mechanical Drafting, Design Technology, or a related field.Minimum 3 years of experience using AutoDesk Revit or other 3D CAD software within the design or construction industry.Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and drawing production standards.Eligible to work in Canada (no licensing requirements for this position).Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Preferred :
General knowledge of mechanical equipment and construction materials.Ability to perform basic calculations related to mechanical layouts and system design.Previous experience performing or assisting with site inspections.This position offers a competitive annual base salary of CA$65,000 – CA$95,000 CAD, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
