Description :

The Department of Language Studies at the University of Toronto Mississauga invites applications for a two-year full-time contractually limited term appointment (CLTA) in French Linguistics.

The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.

Candidates must have earned a PhD in French or Linguistics or a related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching.

The successful candidate will have 1) demonstrated expertise in experimental or corpus-based French linguistics, and 2) a focus on language acquisition, bi / multilingualism, or psycholinguistics.

We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths . The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research and to establish an outstanding research program.

Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees.

Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier (with required materials outlined below) submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference.

Native or near-native proficiency in French and a strong command of spoken and written English are required.

The successful applicant will teach both French linguistics (FRE) and French-as-a-second-language (FSL) courses in the French undergraduate programs.

They will be expected to develop and maintain an active program of research and to participate in experiential education and community outreach activities including with local high schools.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
