Job Description
The candidate will be a member of a team within Data Management Services (DMS) called Alternative Database Technologies. Alternative Database Technologies is responsible for database infrastructure architecture and operation support to teams using various cloud based and on-premises database platforms.
The successful candidate will have a passion for database related technologies and is a proven fast learner. This is an opportunity for someone who is expert in data warehouse technologies, preferably in Snowflake and Redshift.
What will you do :
- Maintain and optimize Snowflake and Redshift environments across dev, test, stage and production Participate in projects throughout the entire project lifecycle
- Manage infrastructure, permissions, resource monitors, warehouses, and network setting in Snowflake
- Collaborate with stakeholders to implement best practices
- Monitor usage and performance; troubleshoot issues and optimize queries
- Monitor Snowflake usage and spending trends, provide recommendations for cost optimization and efficient resource utilizations.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external data governance policies
- Refine existing data pipelines by improving query efficiency, indexing strategies, and automating repetitive tasks to reduce processing times and optimize resource utilization.
- Proactively monitors database and data pipeline performance, identifying and addressing inefficiencies, query bottlenecks, and latency issues. Use advanced diagnostic tools to analyze execution plans, optimize SQL queries, and ensure high database availability.
- Troubleshoot complex connectivity, replication, and system performance issues, working closely with infrastructure and DevOps teams to maintain database health and stability.
- Enforce database security best practices by managing user roles, permissions, and encryption protocols to protect sensitive data.
- automate reporting processes and build scalable data visualization tools that improve accessibility and decision-making across teams.
What you need to succeed :
University degree in Computer Science or related information technology degree / diploma2+ years of hands-on Snowflake administration / development experience2+ years of experience in cloud native database technologies, i.e. AWS Redshift, Oracle ADW etc.2+ years of experience working with multiple platforms and types of data repositories (Relational, NOSQL, Datawarehouse, OLAP, OLTP etc.)Preferred skills :
Understanding of schema design (relational and data warehouse), index design, operation optimization, query (or explain) plansProficient in writing and optimizing SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies to improve efficiency.Direct experience with cloud-based database environments such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or Snowflake. Understand cloud-native database services, storage solutions, and cost optimization strategies.Proactive professional who thrives on the fast-paced release cycles of Snowflake and Redshift, transforming new features into operational valueIndividual Skills :
