Process Engineer - EIT, Water
Stantec’s BC Water Group is seeking an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our growing team. In this role you will support the water business line by contributing to large municipal water and wastewater treatment projects, including feasibility studies, conceptual, preliminary and detailed design, and on‑site construction coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake municipal water and wastewater treatment system and pump station planning and design.
- Prepare written technical reports, including design reports and technical memoranda to summarize calculations, economic analyses, and design bases.
- Prepare conceptual and detailed design drawings, calculations, construction specifications, tender documents, applications for approvals, and other duties of a similar nature.
- Prepare presentations for clients and communicate design and task progress with senior engineers and project managers.
- Conduct chemical or process simulation modelling as required.
- Perform field work related to site investigations in support of design work and may include pilot and / or construction related activities.
- Meet with clients, regulators and officials, the public, and contractors to review project needs and coordinate field conditions.
- Communicate and coordinate with multiple internal disciplines, CAD technicians, engineers, and project managers related to task activities.
- Deliver individual project tasks following project schedule and budget.
- Support Project Managers in planning and coordination for multidisciplinary municipal engineering projects.
Capabilities and Credentials
Basic understanding of water and wastewater treatment engineering design concepts, including process drawings, calculations, water quality, and equipment selection.Recognition of technical problems and ability to initiate corrective actions.Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project).Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.Commitment to client satisfaction and delivery of high‑quality work products.Ability to multitask, prioritize and follow direction.Strong interpersonal skills for working in diverse team environments with staff, clients, and stakeholders.Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and engage in creative and critical thinking.Professional and positive communication, both in writing and in person, with clients, employees, and visitors.Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (or related field) with a strong interest in water / wastewater projects; must be a registered EIT or eligible to obtain registration within six months.Minimum of 2 years of engineering analysis and design experience for water and / or wastewater systems.Master’s degree in a relevant field is considered an asset.Co‑op or internship experience is an asset.Pay Range
Locations outside the Lower Mainland – BC : Minimum $74,400.00 – Maximum $107,900.00Locations in the Lower Mainland – BC : Minimum $78,900.00 – Maximum $114,400.00Pay Transparency
In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Final compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience and work location. Certain roles may be bonus eligible. Part‑time compensation will be pro‑rated.
