This position operates assigned trucks and other equipment in support of public works construction and maintenance projects.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Operates a tandem dump truck to haul gravel, dirt, asphalt, and other materials to and from work sites.
• Operates a front-end loader to load trucks as needed.
• Operates a lowboy to move equipment to and from work sites.
• Performs laboring duties as needed.
• Flags traffic at work sites.
• Inspects trucks and equipment prior to operation; checks fluid levels, tires, lights, etc.; lubricates and washes truck.
• Operates a variety of hand and power tools.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The Crew Supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

GUIDELINES

Guidelines include traffic laws, work safety policies, and county policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
