QUALIFICATIONS :
- Possess a Bachelor of Education degree
- Must have or be eligible for BC Teacher Certification
- Experience working with First Nations students
- Good communication skills, self-motivated, compassionate, empathetic, and enthusiastic;
- Ability to manage challenging student behaviors.
Knowledge and experience :
Primary Programs : Read Well, Saxon Math, Acadience ReadingIntermediate programs : Reading Mastery, Six Minute Solution, Jump Math / Math Focus, Corrective Reading, Third QuestEffective classroom management skills;Knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture;Effective planning strategies which include lesson plans, unit plans and year plans;Comprehensive assessment strategies which accommodate First Nations learning styles;Willingness to integrate appropriate technologies in the classroom;Experience developing and implementing IEPs;Willingness to incorporate a variety of teaching methods to motivate and encourage students including the use of traditional knowledge in the outdoors and on the land;Willingness to participate in local community and cultural events;Experience using technology and web-based resources in instruction including Smartboards and IPads;Maintains effective and consistent communication with students and parents to discuss progress and goalsEnsure that students follow all COVID-19 guidelines such as handwashing, physical distancing, staying in cohorts, and mask wearing as required by current health and safety guidelines;Monitor virtual classrooms during distance / remote learning : student progress, student attendance, student mental healthCheck out our school by watching this video :
