Position Summary :
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications & Citizenship, the Manager, Public Relations MX is integral to enhancing global visibility. The Manager, Public Relations MX will lead the creation and implementation of communications programs and initiatives to drive awareness for Samsung’s related mobile product services offerings in Canada, including Galaxy Ecosystem, Samsung Health and Samsung Wallet. The PR Manager must have strategic and creative communication acumen and operational expertise to ensure impactful PR campaigns that amplify the services, products and brand.
Responsibilities include developing and executing strategic plans for positive coverage across various media outlets, managing communications and relationships with internal and external partners, and collaborating with other business groups within the organization. This position will interface with senior executives as well as other internal marketing and sales stakeholders. The Manager will also liaise with Samsung’s Korea office on global communication strategy, media targets, events, and outreach related to product and service launches.
The Manager will need the strategic acumen as well as operational (manage multiple projects) expertise to ensure PR campaigns optimize limited financial resources to achieve a measurable market impact. The Manager will manage successful media relations campaigns that deliver measurable impact and compelling stories to drive awareness for the brand and product.
Role and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities :
Develop and execute PR strategies and plans for the Mobile experience team product services and initiatives including Galaxy Ecosystem, Samsung Health initiative and Samsung Wallet.
Lead day-to-day management of key external partners
Build and own relationships with top tier, influential tech and lifestyle media
Identify interesting story angles about the full mobile ecosystem and secure stories that have high potential to attract strong media coverage
Take an open-ended mandate and give it analysis and structure, culminating in a concrete set of PR objectives and a clear way to achieve them
Collaborate with global Samsung offices and business groups in Korea and Canada
Provide support / management of outside agencies
Monitor, analyze and communicate PR results on a daily / weekly / monthly / quarterly / annual basis
This is a fast-paced environment with a great mix of strategic planning, rapid execution, and a bit of hustle!
Education / Experience Required :
BA / BS degree in marketing, communications, or business management a plus
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience, preferably in Media Relations
Prior experience in the tech, mobile and lifestyle media industry preferred.
Knowledge :
Ability to work independently with little or no direction; creative thinking and solution-minded
Extremely organized with the ability to manage complex logistics
Excellent time management and project management skills
Consummate collaborator committed to communication excellence
Ability to think quickly and make decisions, sometimes without all the necessary information
Proficient in marketing program, agency, and budget management.
Skills and Qualifications
Experienced professional with full understanding on specialized areas; resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways
Works on problems of diverse scope where analyzing data requires evaluating identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work and receives general instructions on new assignments
Typically requires minimum 5 years' of related experience and a Bachelor's degree, or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD without experience
The salary range for this role is expected to be between $85,000 to $115,000 and reflects base salary only. Actual pay will be determined based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, competencies, qualifications, relevant skills and experience.
