Sign Language Interpreter

SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER

These positions will work in a team environment to facilitate language expression and comprehension using American Sign Language, tutor students, adapt teaching materials, compile and update student records, and monitor student behaviour.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Successful completion of Grade 12
• Graduate of an accredited interpreter training program
• Previous experience interpreting in an educational setting an asset
• At least six (6) months experience working with Deaf students with language delays
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Willing to work collaboratively as a member of the IEP (Individual Education Program) team
• Consideration will be given to candidates who are also fluent in ASL-French language interpreting

These casual and/or 10-month permanent positions (27.5hrs / week) offer a wage rate of $48.00 per hour as well as a comprehensive benefits plan, including extended health and dental care, and participation in Municipal Pension Plan.

Successful applicants will be required to complete the District's Health & Safety training and consent to a Criminal Record Check.
