Fibre Optic Technician

We are on the lookout for a skilled and seasoned Fibre Optic Technician to join our in-home installation team.

Key Responsibilities :

• Conduct and lead the in-home installation of fibre optic systems, providing exceptional service and ensuring customer satisfaction along with safety
• Skillfully install, configure, and set up networking devices, including but not limited to Calix Gigaspire Blast and Gigapoint 1100 , additional networking equipment eg. WIFI extenders
• Execute the process of bringing fibre from an external terminal into residences by drilling and connecting the necessary networking equipment.
• Offer flexible scheduling to meet customer needs, including availability for evening and weekend installations
• Educate customers on their new fibre optic systems with comprehensive explanations and basic troubleshooting tips
• Work closely with our customer service team to ensure seamless installation experiences and promptly address customer queries or concerns
• Document installation processes, service changes, and customer interactions in our CRM system

• Passionate about delivering superior customer service, adept at managing both positive and negative interactions, and skilled in overcoming customer objections
• Ability to work well within a team as well as independently with little oversight, demonstrating initiative and self-direction
• Strong problem-solving skills, with an analytical approach to addressing challenges
• Requires normal color vision for accurate handling of color-coded wiring tasks
• Physically capable of managing a demanding workload, including standing, lifting, climbing, and navigating confined spaces across diverse settings.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with a natural ability for clear and effective interactions
• Technically inclined with a keen understanding of consumer electronics and a willingness to continuously learn in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable with outdoor work in various conditions
• Has extensive experience in fibre optic installation, familiarity with Calix equipment and their interfaces is considered a strong asset
• Exhibits excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to independently lead projects
• Comprehensive knowledge of network configuration, including IP addressing, DNS settings, and router configurations
• Demonstrates strong customer service skills, with the capability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical customers

Education, Certifications & Experience :

• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in fibre optic in-home installation, ideally using Calix equipment
• Background in telecommunications is a must.
• Must possess a valid Full G Driver’s License with a clean driving record; driver’s abstract required.
• Minimum education requirement : Highschool Diploma
