The Professional - Professional Exception, Governance and Compliance, will report to the Director of Governance, Controls, and Finance Operations. This role is crucial for implementing finance governance, compliance, and control initiatives. Responsibilities include ensuring a robust internal control structure for Finance, consistent with current governance, risk, and compliance requirements. The role involves working with various infrastructure groups to maintain a rigorous risk management and control framework, testing controls, managing deficiencies, and overseeing the assertion process for the Finance group.
Key Responsibilities
- Control Activities : Test the design and operating effectiveness of FPC, RCM, and OPC internal controls within Finance. This includes executing the annual internal control test plan, scheduling and facilitating walkthroughs, performing management testing, and following up on issues or deficiencies raised by Finance Management, CIBC’s Global Operational Risk Management, internal / external auditors, regulators, and control performers. Additionally, facilitate the quarterly assertion process for Finance groups, review and provide feedback on existing process and procedure documents, and support the SOMO (SOCs and Maintenance Officer) with key initiatives and projects (e.g., development of end-to-end Process Map, COE process documents, etc.).
Must-Have Qualifications
3-5 years of experience with financial products (products and processes) and control activities.University degree in Business Management (or equivalent).Knowledge of SOCs controls.Preferred Qualifications
Background in risk management, process documentation, and control design within a financial services organization.Experience with financial, operational, management, and general entity controls to create a sound control framework and continuously improve internal controls.Banking experience is preferred.OSFI experience is a plus.Completion or progress towards an accounting designation.Soft Skills

The ideal candidate should have strong SOCs control testing skills and a solid finance background.Good knowledge of gap and risk assessment is essential.The role involves on-ground control testing (Finance and Accounting controls).No specific software is required; all control testing is done using Excel.Open to more junior candidates.Most of the work will focus on Financial FPC and OPC.
