Dexter Construction, a division of the Municipal Group of Companies, based in Bedford, Nova Scotia is a large diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces. We are currently seeking a Quality Control Co-op Student for a 4 / 8-month term starting May 2026 based out of Bedford, NS.
Job Summary
The Quality Control Technician ensures the correct application of the Project Quality Plan for onsite activities. Acting as a representative of the company, this individual must act with professionalism, encouraging fellow employees to follow methods and procedures of quality control as outlined by company standards.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Independently plans and carries out assignments in conformance with accepted policies and practices.
- Ensure that the tests, controls and inspections are carried out and that personnel have access to all required project documentation.
- Advice on quality matters, inspection and interpretation of Codes and Standard as required.
- Review Contractors / Subcontractors Quality plan, procedures, Inspection and test plans to ensure it meets the project quality requirements.
- Monitors daily construction quality activities and conduct surveillance inspection to ensure compliance with approved Project drawings, Quality Plans and contract documentation.
- Participate in Quality meetings and report on quality activities when required.
- Perform review of construction contractors’ or service providers’ daily quality control and safety reports to assure that the quality control operations are adequately documented (including such activities as level of inspections, inspection results, testing procedures and results, deficiency correction actions, etc.) and that work is being performed in a safe manner.
- Address the day-to-day inspection needs of the assigned areas.
- Ensure that all site activities are carried out according to reference documentation
- Inform the Quality Manager of any deviation regarding the contract.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, And Experience
CET, Civil Engineering Degree, or equivalent preferredPrevious experience would be an assetStrong communication verbal, written and presentation skillsProblem solving skillsA valid Driver’s LicenseApplication Process
