Laboratory Assistant The technician will support both the quarry and the plant laboratory in Perth, recording and reporting test results, maintaining data in computer-based systems, and performing additional duties as assigned. The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for overseeing the administration of aggregate material truck loads, including associated paperwork and interactions with quarry staff, broker / shipping personnel, and truck drivers. This role primarily involves collecting samples, conducting complex analyses on calcium carbonate or related products, and managing laboratory procedures while utilizing various instrumentation and specialized processing methods.
Key Responsibilities :
Aggregate Material Management :
- Administer truck loads of aggregate material, ensuring accurate paperwork completion.
- Coordinate and communicate with quarry staff, broker / shipping personnel, and truck drivers.
Laboratory Duties :
Collect samples from quarry and plant feed stockpiles.Conduct intricate analyses on calcium carbonate and related products using established and experimental laboratory methods.Utilize advanced analytical instrumentation and industry-specific processing techniques.Log samples, enter data, and report findings accurately.Data Management :
Record test results in computer-based data retention systems.Log new samples into the computer-based laboratory management system.Other Requirements :
Prior lab experience is strongly desired.Proficiency in both oral and written English is necessary.Strong computer skills, specifically in Excel, are required.The ideal candidate should have a solid mathematical background and knowledge of earth sciences or civil engineering.Preferred Assets :
Familiarity with TopCon or similar products would be an advantage.Experience in geology and / or mining is beneficial but not mandatory.Qualifications :
Education : A degree or diploma in a relevant field (earth sciences, geology, environmental studies, civil engineering, etc.) is preferred.Experience : Prior experience in laboratory settings or related fields is advantageous.Skills : Proficiency in analytical techniques, data management, computer skills, and a good command of required languages.This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various personnel. While experience in geology or mining is beneficial, it's not a mandatory requirement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a blend of technical expertise, adaptability, and a commitment to accurate data analysis and reporting.
