Underwriting Specialist - Western Region
Join our client's team as an Underwriting Specialist focused on managing intricate risks associated with property and casualty products in the Western Region.
This role is pivotal in collaborating with diverse stakeholders, evaluating underwriting submissions, managing account portfolios, and cultivating strong relationships with clients and brokers.
Key Responsibilities :
- Analyze risks, evaluate underwriting submissions, and make informed decisions.
- Develop, negotiate, and oversee a portfolio of accounts aligned with strategic objectives.
- Foster enduring relationships with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders while delivering exceptional service.
- Strategically plan, prioritize, and execute tasks to meet defined objectives.
- Operate within guidelines, promptly identifying and escalating potential risks.
Qualifications and Skills :
- University degree and advanced insurance-related certifications like CIP or equivalent.
- 6-8 years' progressive underwriting experience, specializing in property and casualty products with demonstrated success in intermediate roles.
- Proficiency in underwriting tools, systems, and data analysis techniques to assess risks, determine coverage, and calculate premiums.
- Strong attention to detail, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and effective time management.
- Negotiation proficiency, adaptability to evolving market conditions and guidelines, and managing multiple underwriting files concurrently.
- Comprehensive understanding of underwriting guidelines, policy wordings, pricing tools, and the regional insurance market.
- Ability to coach and mentor underwriting professionals and commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- High ethical standards, adherence to industry regulations, and discretion in handling sensitive information.
