What You’ll Do
The Corporate Accountant is responsible for accounting, reporting, and analyzing financial information and data within Metrie. The role communicates key information about the business and its financial performance to leaders and the Executive Leadership Team, helping stakeholders make better business decisions by providing accurate and timely financial information.
The Corporate Accountant reports to the Senior Manager, Corporate Reporting and is a member of the Corporate Reporting team, contributing to coordinated financial results as part of the Finance team.
Location : In Office based out of our Vancouver, BC Head Office. This position requires daily in-branch presence to effectively collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the consolidation for multiple entities and perform eliminations to ensure accurate consolidated financial reporting.
- Prepare the consolidated financial reports and statements in accordance with ASPE and related disclosures.
- Prepare and / or review monthly and consolidation journal entries, applying ASPE and meeting channel and corporate reporting timelines.
- Ensure timely preparation, approval, and review of monthly account reconciliations to maintain general ledger integrity.
- Collaborate with finance and cross-functional teams to gather financial data, resolve discrepancies, and address accounting issues.
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support management decisions, strategic planning, and initiatives.
- Prepare budgeting documents and analysis of monthly results versus budgets, with forecasts to inform leaders.
- Support year-end audit processes by responding to auditors’ inquiries and preparing working papers and schedules.
- Provide accounting support for new acquisitions and ensure proper consolidation of acquisition accounting.
- Coordinate valuations with external service providers to ensure timely reports and analyses.
- Develop training and / or process documentation for the Finance team.
- Contribute to a high-performing, engaged and diverse Corporate Reporting team.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualifications
Post-secondary degree, certificate or diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting or related field required.Experience with financial consolidations in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment; knowledge of consolidation processes and elimination entries.CPA, CA, CGA, CMA or other recognized accounting designation required.4–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment.Experience developing or documenting accounting practices, processes, or training / guidance documents is a strong asset.Experience with consolidations and eliminations; prior consolidation experience is required.Experience preparing consolidated financial statements with disclosures is a strong asset.Experience managing or supporting year-end audits and liaising with external auditors is a strong asset.Experience with ERP systems, particularly SAP, is a strong asset.Manufacturing or distribution experience is an asset.Intermediate to advanced MS Excel and MS Office skills; strong communication skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.Desire to learn new skills, improve processes, and continually develop strengths.What You’ll Enjoy

The final base pay within this range depends on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This role may qualify for discretionary bonuses.
