Position Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to assist newcomer immigrants in developing industryspecific language skills and workplace soft skills, enabling them to communicate and integrate effectively in Canadian workplaces.
The English for Employment Instructor will develop and teach content related to front-line office, hospitality, education assistant, retail& customer services, childcare, and personal care worker. In addition to developing language-based materials for the courses as mentioned above, other responsibilities include program management and coordination, such as advertising and promoting the courses, conducting information sessions, conducting intake interviews to select program participants, organizing workplace tours and job shadowing, preparing reports, and following up with clients.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Adult Education, or a degree in other related fields
- Experience in the development and facilitation of employment-related / industry-specific language classes
- Demonstrated experience in program management and meeting program goals
- Strong technological skills; proficient in MS Office Suite, Google Workspace, Google Classroom, SMART Boards, Databases
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and organization skills
- Demonstrated experience in effective communication and maintaining positive relationships with multiple stakeholders
- Proven accountability, resourcefulness, initiative, and professionalism
- Strong ability to work cooperatively in a cross-cultural setting
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines
- In-depth knowledge of market trends, available training, educational and employment opportunities, employer requirements, and community resources is an asset
Desired qualifications
Knowledge of and / or experience in teaching the Canadian Language Benchmarks to learners assessed at CLB 4 to CLB 8Knowledge of Portfolio-Based Language Assessment would be an assetTESL SK and / or TESL Canada accreditation would be an assetCompetencies

Plan, prepare, and deliver industry-specific language and soft skills coursesUse learner-centered, task-based, and outcome-focused classroom instruction supported by hands-on activities, visual aids, role plays, and workplace toursConduct ongoing needs assessments and evaluations to ensure clients' industry-specific language needs are fulfilled.Track and monitor the progress of programInvite guest speakers from various industries to hold informational and Q&A sessions for program participants.Create a positive and supportive learning environment forCoordinate with employers to arrange workplace tours and secure job shadowing opportunities for program participants.Maintain learners' files and recordsSubmit reports to the Employment Services ManagerDesign and develop promotional materials for the program as neededPerform all the tasks related to the program managementPerform other position-related duties as neededSalary Level
The classification for this position is Professional Category 1 - Step 1. The annual salary for this position starts at
$54,440.59 ($31.02 per hour). Pay periods are the end of the day on the 15th of the month and the end of each month.
Working Conditions and Application Instructions
The standard hours of work are Monday – Friday, 8 : 00 AM – 4 : 30 PM, with an hour of unpaid lunch break and EDO every second Friday. All positions at RODS require a clean criminal record check. There is a cost- shared benefits package and a 3% pension contribution available to the employee upon successful completion of a six-month probationary period.
