Job Description

As part of the Operations team at Teledyne FLIR, the Production Buyer will impact revenue achievement and cost management. All roles require teamwork, a passion for results, and continuous improvement. We prioritize problem-solving and stakeholder satisfaction.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement activities with operations, project teams, and vendors.
  • Plan orders, purchase materials, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely supply of raw materials based on operational needs.
  • Make ERP / MRP-based purchases, follow up with vendors, expedite deliveries, and resolve payment issues.
  • Innovate solutions to reduce lead times, lower costs, and improve quality.
  • Seek cost savings through new or existing suppliers.
  • Contribute to system improvements to meet KPIs such as inventory turns and BOM cost.
  • Ensure purchased products meet company, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate across departments including engineering, production, finance, IT, facilities, and sales.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including audits, onboarding, and regular interactions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related field preferred.
  • Certifications like APICS, ISM, CPM, or CPIM are preferred.
  • 6+ years of purchasing experience in manufacturing or technology sectors.
  • Experience with purchase orders, expediting, vendor audits, and problem resolution.
  • Proven accomplishments in supply chain roles.
  • Ability to work with global suppliers across time zones.
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, and pressure management skills.
  • Knowledge of electronic components and ERP / MRP systems, especially SAP.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kanban, and engineering processes.
  • Must be eligible for CGP clearance as a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident.

    Compliance with ethical standards and applicable export regulations is required.
