We are seeking an experienced engineering leader to drive innovation in graphics technology across our product portfolio. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of design and visualization solutions, ensuring our platforms deliver world-class performance, scalability, and visual fidelity. As Director of Engineering, you will lead a team of talented developers and architects, define the technical strategy for graphics, and collaborate with product and internal and external partners to deliver cutting-edge graphics capabilities for desktop, web and mobile environments.
Responsibilities
Define and execute the engineering vision for graphics technology, aligning with company objectives and industry trends
Define and execute on a modernization of existing stacks to new stacks and retire products and technologies no longer needed
Drive architectural decisions for rendering pipelines, visualization frameworks, and GPU-based optimizations
Be the trusted expert for internal partners on all things graphics
Oversee development of high-performance graphics engines and visualization stacks for design workflows across the company
Ensure scalability, security, and resilience in graphics architecture through rigorous reviews and prototyping
Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., AI-based graphics, cloud rendering) and integrate them into product roadmaps
Establish and enforce engineering best practices
Build a high-performing engineering team that fosters a culture of innovation and collaboration
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to align engineering initiatives with product, business, and customer objectives, ensuring seamless delivery and feedback loops
Provide Insights and direction for initiatives in advanced visualization techniques, including AR / VR, simulation, and immersive design
Represent the organization in technical forums and industry events to showcase leadership in graphics technology
Stay abreast of the latest trends and build and manage a network of industry experts
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Graphics Engineering, or related field
15+ years of experience in graphics technology, with at least 10 years in a leadership role
Expertise in rendering technologies, GPU programming (DirectX, Vulkan, Metal), and real-time visualization
Proven track record of delivering complex graphics systems at scale
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with AEC workflows and data modeling
Experience with cloud-based rendering and distributed visualization systems
Knowledge of machine learning applications in graphics optimization

Salary transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $193,800 and $313,500. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
