Under the direction of the Bkejwanong Children's Centre Job Description, the RECE Resource Teacher will provide early childhood education resource service to children O - 10 years of age referred for the service. The ECE Resource Teacher promotes and supports the inclusion of children at the Bkejwanong Children's Centre. The RECE Resource Teacher will participate in ensuring that the service provided to clients is ongoing, comprehensive, and consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Bkejwanong Children's Centre.
Requirements :
- In good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators and has completed a postsecondary program of studies that is both theoretical and practical and that relates to the needs of children with special needs.
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) Resource Teacher an asset.
- Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Training and Visual strategies training assets.
- Five years of experience in Early Childhood Education (ECE) work essential.
- Ability to lift and move children and equipment as required.
- Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with Bkejwanong Children's Centre.
- Familiar with resources available to children with special needs.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certificate.
- Criminal Reference clearance.
- Valid driver's license.
Responsibilities :
Contributes to the successful integration of children O -10 years of age.Uses screening tools and developmentally appropriate activities to assist childcare staff in understanding the child's special needs.Assesses the needs of children referred to the service and develops the IPP within 6 weeks of the child coming on to the Resource Support.Coordinates the implementation of the IPP to facilitate the integration of each child into all aspects of the community-based program and home life.Provides direct in-class support to children and develops flexible service plans to meet the needs of each child and family referred for service.Provides resource support service case management through a range of services including direct support, home visits (if necessary), ECE staff consultation, and ongoing consultation with clinical professionals.Assumes a varying caseload.Develops specialized programs in collaboration and cooperation with Children's Centre staff for children to meet their social and developmental goals.Contributes to a safe environment for children by recommending and demonstrating to Children's Centre staff positioning and handling techniques.Evaluates the ongoing needs of each child and maintains developmental and progress reports.Updates the IPP as needed and at least every 6 months.Documents pertinent information in the child's central record promptly.Maintains working files with accurate and up-to-date written records of contacts (telephone and face-to-face) with programs and caregivers.Supports other children, parents, and staff of Bkejwanong Children's Centre to increase their comfort level for the inclusion of children who have developmental or physical challenges.Maintains positive contact with parents and attends regular scheduled parent conferences.Identifies needs and completes referrals for assessment by appropriate clinical professionals.As an active member of the team around the child and family, maintains communication with all team members to ensure all are aware of pertinent information relating to the child and family, and informs them of the child's progress and any changes in the program.Liaises between staff in childcare and outside agencies to arrange for child-specific training and consultation as necessary.Participates in theJ-18808-Ljbffr
