Director of Sales
H.M.S. Careers , representing Canada's most dynamic and diverse hotel management company, is seeking a driven and experienced Director of Sales for a premier property located approximately one hour south of Vancouver. This position is being posted in Vancouver to maximize candidate reach. Reporting to the General Manager with a secondary reporting structure to the Area Director of Sales, the Director of Sales will lead all sales efforts, both reactive and proactive. This role provides day-to-day leadership to the sales team, focusing on achieving property sales objectives and revenue goals. The Director of Sales will also manage the sales and marketing budgets, developing and implementing strategies to drive success.
Responsibilities :
- Lead and inspire the sales team, fostering a strong sales culture within the hotel.
- Drive sales activities, track progress, and adapt plans to maximize revenue.
- Coach and mentor sales associates to build a high-performing team.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders on sales and marketing initiatives, training, and development.
- Manage sales and brand systems (including Delphi) and ensure accurate documentation of client communication.
- Manage performance to achieve the optimal business mix and sales targets, including performance reviews and action plans.
- Partner with revenue management to balance occupancy, mix, and rate to achieve budgeted RevPAR.
- Develop and manage sales and marketing budgets, maximizing ROI.
- Control costs and ensure budget adherence.
- Develop and implement a strategic sales plan and SMART action plan to exceed annual budget expectations.
- Conduct market research to identify opportunities and develop effective sales strategies for each segment.
- Analyze market and economic trends to adapt sales strategies and exceed customer expectations.
- Cultivate customer relationships and develop new revenue streams.
- Monitor market data (STR), competitive reports, and other resources to understand market positioning.
- Utilize industry tools to capture market share.
- Research competitor strategies to identify opportunities for growth.
- Conduct sales calls, site inspections, and build relationships with clients.
- Represent the hotel at industry events and sales activities.
- Participate in industry organizations and events.
- Entertain clients and represent the hotel professionally.
- Participate in brand and corporate training programs.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to ensure compliance with sales and marketing programs.
- Prepare and analyze monthly reports.
- Promote the organization's mission and values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Director of Sales in the hospitality industry, with a proven track record.Post-secondary education in Sales1 or a related field (Hospitality Degree preferred).Brand experience is an asset.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Highly motivated, self-starter with strong sales skills, including negotiation, prospecting, presentation, and communication.Strong sales leadership and team motivation skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Established industry contacts and market knowledge.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong negotiation and prospecting skills.Computer proficiency (Excel, Word, group booking systems, internet, email, Delphi).Proven leadership abilities.Ability to work under pressure.Compensation and Benefits :
