Who are we looking for?
Our Tunnel Group and Water Group are growing, and looking for Tunnel / Trenchless Engineer with experience in Water market to join us in Mississauga or Markham, ON . You will play a key role in a wide variety of tunnel engineering projects. The Tunnel Group is an energetic dynamic team that is working on tunnelling projects for large diameter subway transit lines in GTA, municipal projects in Ontario, projects in Vancouver and subway lines in USA and Australia.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in :
- Assisting with project work within GHD’s Water business and support other tunnelling projects across Canada or internationally, as opportunities present.
- Assisting in responding to technical and administrative tasks associated with the development of tunnels and underground structures.
- Carrying out analysis as directed by senior members of the team for tunnel liners and shaft design using PLAXIS, FLAC, Rocscience, etc.
- Preparing tunnel reports input to the tunnel component of proposals
- Attending client meetings along with supervisor
What you will bring to the team :
University graduate with degree in geotechnical, geological or civil engineering (Master Degree in Tunnel / Geotechnical Engineering would be considered an asset)Professional status is essential, . , or working towards itProven experience in tunnel engineering, water projectsMinimum of 5 years working on municipalities tunnel / trenchless projects, post graduateCapability in working within tunnel design or construction teamsExperience designing mid-size tunnels (2m +)Ability to design deep shaft & shoring structuresExperience in the design of tunnels in soft ground and underground support of structureConfident with analytical and numerical analysis methods and ability to work with various industry standard geotechnical software’s (PLAXIS, FLAC, RocscienceDemonstrate strong knowledge of the different tunnelling / trenchless & shaft construction methods, logistics, equipment & methodology selectionExperience in calculating tunnel induce settlement including analysis of damages to the adjacent infrastructureFamiliar with settlement instrumentation & monitoringSoft ground tunnelling ancillaries including ground treatment & ground freezing will be an asset.Familiar with the preparation of GBR’s, along with the review of GDR and geotechnical investigation planning for tunnel and underground structuresAbility to assist in preparing project specificationsFamiliar with cost estimating & scheduling for tunnel / shaft constructionDemonstrated experience in preparation of detailed design reports & construction reportingExcellent technical writing, presentation and team work skillsValid Ontario Driver’s License (G)As a diverse and inclusive organization, we encourage individual achievement and recognize the strength of a diverse workforce.
