Position summary

The Cancer Data Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the completeness, quality, accuracy, and integrity of cancer-related data within Oak Valley Health (OVH). Schedule

The successful candidate will be available to work 8-hour day shifts, Monday to Friday on a part-time basis.

Quality assurance

Develop and implement data quality control procedures and standards to ensure the reliability of cancer data. Regularly audit data for inconsistencies, errors, and missing information, and take corrective actions as needed. Proactively monitor cancer data for quality issues and inconsistencies. Communicate a list of data quality issues to healthcare providers and clinical teams, facilitating updates and corrections as necessary. 48_Communication Created with Sketch.

Communication

Work closely with the clinical team and physicians to ensure proper data capture and recording in the HIS. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, oncologists, pathologists, and data analysts to identify and resolve data discrepancies and improve data quality. Communicate findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders. Data

Enter and update cancer data in electronic databases or registry systems. Maintain data confidentiality and security, adhering to HIPAA and other relevant privacy regulations. Collect and compile cancer-related data from various sources, including electronic health records (EHRs), pathology reports, and other clinical documentation. Verify the accuracy and completeness of collected data, ensuring that all relevant information is captured. 48_Business Development Created with Sketch.

Continuous improvement

Stay updated on developments in cancer data standards, regulations, and best practices. Propose and implement process improvements to enhance data quality and efficiency. Analysis

Generate reports and summaries of cancer data for healthcare providers, researchers, and regulatory agencies. Collaborate with researchers and analysts to conduct data analyses and identify trends or patterns in cancer outcomes. 48_Compliance Created with Sketch.

Compliance

Utilize standardized coding systems (, ICD-10, SNOMED CT) to accurately code and categorize cancer diagnoses, treatments, and outcomes. Ensure compliance with established coding standards and guidelines: Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI). Ontario Cancer Activity Level Reporting (ALR).

Qualifications

A college or university degree in a related field (, Health Information Management, Medical records). Knowledge of cancer terminology, diagnostic codes, and medical terminology. Familiarity with data management tools and software, including database systems. Experience working with cancer registries and cancer data reporting is an asset.
