Operations Manager
Hours of work : Monday to Friday 10am 6 : 30pm
Responsible for Warehouse and Transportation operations with Tim Hortons Distribution in Debert, NS, you will have real impact in providing millions of Canadians with their favorite cup of coffee every day.
We are looking for a self-starter with an ownership mindset, strong safety culture, front-line leadership skills, and focus on process efficiency, continuous improvement, and customer service.
Under the guidance of the Sr. Manager, Distribution Operations, the Operations Manager will be accountable for the overall management of all warehouse and transportation activities.
The successful candidate will ensure daily operational targets are met while maintaining positive employee relations and ensuring a safe work environment.
Qualifications :
- 3 - 5 years of Recent Supervisory Experience in the Distribution Warehousing / Transportation / Freight Industry.
- Demonstrates Servant Leadership and People Focused
- Experience with warehouse and labor management systems.
- Knowledge of Transportation regulations.
- Experience with Driver onboard systems, such as Omnitracs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent communication, analytical and interpersonal / team skills.
- Experience with operational performance management, such as route efficiency, safety and on time deliveries.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, process improvement and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to safety.
- Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with routing will be considered an asset.
- Working in food safe environments will be considered an asset.
- Proficient computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
- Willing to travel to different Distribution Centers if required.
- Willing to work extra hours as required.
Key Accountabilities
Warehouse :
- Organize, direct, and manage warehousing operations including daily flow of inbound and outbound products to ensure production requirements are met.
- Monitor key performance indicators and prepare reports.
- Carry out routines, policies, and standard operating procedures for the warehouse operations.
- Ensure safe working environment and drive safe culture including food safety.
- Ensure the completion on daily mandates to provide on time and quality deliveries to our Restaurants.
- Make recruitment and hiring recommendations of direct reports and oversee all employee training including orientation, health and safety, technology, and customer service.
- Manage, coach, and develop supervisory team and succession planning.
- Ensure compliance and training standards are met.
- Review shift structure and make recommendations to manage workflow / volumes and production targets.
- Work with senior leadership to develop and document standard operating policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective workplace practices and processes.
- Work with other departments to maximize operational efficiencies, reduce bottlenecks, and troubleshoot issues that may arise.
- Manage warehouse performance, by ensuring all targets are being hit. I.e. Pieces per hour (PPH), Order Accuracy (OA), Error Free Invoice (EFI).
- Contribute to the overall warehouse operations strategy ensuring effective rollout of programs.
- Organize and manage monthly round table warehouse meetings.
- Lead Safety initiatives, participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee, involvement in food safety audits.
Transportation :
- Responsible for ensuring successful results of Transportation performance metrics such as On Time, Route Efficiency, Scorecard, Execution of Accuracy.
- Identify areas of opportunity for improvement and implement solutions by working with Routing, Restaurants Owners, and Drivers.
- Address and respond to Restaurant inquiries, concerns, and Customer Service inquiries.
- Develop and implement routines, policies, and standard operating procedures for the transportation team.
- Drive engagement of the team with high touch in-person interactions.
- Support and develop the performance of the transportation supervisory team including performance reviews, corrective action, KPI monitoring.
- Drive effective communications to the team including support of driver meetings, Distribution Advisory Team for Transportation, driver, and ad hoc messaging to the workforce.
- Managing partnership 3rd party vendors (such as the Fleet’s Maintenance provider).
