A day in the life
of a Mechanic :Perform morning tasks, which may include : Maintenance or repairs of diesel, CNG, gas and electrically-operated trucks as well as associated heavy duty equipmentUsing various power tools, hand instruments and cutting-edge equipmentCompleting daily reports, work orders and order necessary partsPlanning and scheduling repairs in M5 planner and procure partsAssisting in the review of mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedulePerform afternoon labor and administrative tasks, either continuing tasks from the morning or starting new onesSchedule may vary depending on the day-to-day, start time, etc.What’s required :
Mechanics must have :
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desiredCertified Red Seal Mechanic or second year Apprentice with experience required2+ years' experience as a MechanicRelevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standardsFollow detailed instructions, work independently and maintain accurate recordsWillingness to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform jobExert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending and lifting items up to 100 lbs.Use fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger and leg dexterityAbility to kneel, crawl and climbWorking Conditions :
