General Motors announced the promotion of Duncan Aldred to lead the company’s North America region.
Aldred, who recently has been VP of commercial growth strategies and operations, becomes GM Senior VP and President of North America, effective immediately.
He will join the GM senior leadership team and report to Rory Harvey, GM Executive VP and President of Global Markets.
Harvey stated that Aldred has a clear mandate to build on GM’s sales momentum, leverage the industry’s most comprehensive vehicle portfolio, and respond with agility to a rapidly changing external environment.
“Duncan comes to this role having driven a decade of growth in Buick and GMC, and most recently leading and modernizing our commercial operations to better serve our customers,” Harvey said. “This change supports our strategy to offer our customers worldwide an unrivaled choice across our ICE and EV portfolio, from brands they love and trust.”
Aldred expressed confidence in GM’s position in North America, citing its broad portfolio and dedicated team.
“I look forward to working with our teams, dealers, and partners to provide the best sales and ownership experience, helping us continue to succeed in North America,” he added.
In his 33-year career, Aldred has held various leadership roles in vehicle sales, services, and marketing. He was chairman and managing director of Vauxhall UK in 2010, led Opel global sales, marketing, and aftersales in 2013, and was appointed VP of global GMC and Buick in 2014, where he led brand growth and launched new sub-brands like Buick Avenir and GMC AT4.
In 2024, Aldred was appointed to his current position, focusing on modernizing customer experience and creating growth opportunities across GM’s products and services, including GM Energy, GM Envolve, OnStar, Customer Care, Aftersales, and Digital Sales and Service.
