Magnet is helping our client, a progressive organization in the CPG Food space, look for a Key Account Manager to join their team and support the continued growth with chain accounts. Reporting to the Sr Director, National Sales, the successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the Company’s distribution growth and customer performance and be responsible for end to end account ownership and performance. The KAM will work closely with executive management, and a tight knit employee base that is highly vested in the continued success of this growing company to continue to drive growth into a national meat snack powerhouse.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Own and manage assigned key customer accounts to deliver volume, revenue, profit, and distribution targets
- Develop and execute annual customer business plans aligned to company growth objectives
- Lead customer negotiations across pricing, trade spend, promotions, listings, and merchandising
- Leverage strong data analysis to create fact-based selling stories which support the sales team
- Build and manage promotional calendars, ensuring strong ROI and effective in-market execution
- Identify and pursue distribution, shelving, and innovation opportunities to grow the business
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales Ops, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to ensure flawless execution
- Manage trade spend budgets, track performance, and recommend optimization opportunities
- Forecast volume and demand by account, working closely with Supply Chain to support service level targets
- Monitor market, category, and competitive trends and translate insights into customer action plans
- Support innovation launches, including sell‑in, pricing, promotional support, and post‑launch reviews
- Resolve day-to-day customer issues quickly and professionally to maintain strong relationships
- Prepare customer presentations, business reviews, and post‑event analyses
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, customer requirements, and food retail standards
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in key account management, with strong grocery channel expertise; convenience channel experience is an asset
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills (NIQ, POS, Power BI, .XLS) is mandatory
- Proven experience in customer negotiations
- Experience leading annual customer planning, promotional planning, and innovation initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to develop insights and apply fact‑based selling to create winning customer solutions
- High level of proficiency with technology, including MS Office
- Highly organized and solution‑oriented
- Proactive mindset with the ability to think creatively and challenge the status quo
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of work quality
