The Manager of Clinical Informatics reports to the Director of Care and manages the information technology and compliance related to resident care through coordinating the RAI-MDS process and monitoring of quality outcomes and CIHI reports. This role is responsible for ensuring the quality of resident care and nursing restorative philosophy while ensuring compliance through coaching, mentoring, and discipline as required. Additionally, this position is responsible for staff education, orientation, and mentoring to support the transfer of RAI MDS 2.0 and Quality Improvement knowledge within the home.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Informatics on Quality Improvement and RAI-MDS 2.0 process for new staff or students.
  • Provide education and software training to staff on RAI-MDS 2.0, RAPS, subscale outcome measures, quality indicators, and reports.
  • Coordinate the AIS certification of newly hired registered staff and annually thereafter.
  • Consult with management and interdisciplinary team members to develop processes ensuring data integrity and efficient data collection.
  • Establish data quality processes to evaluate MDS coding accuracy and timely completion.
  • Participate in the development of the annual QIP and progress report, and in quality initiatives.
  • Understand the nature and meaning of quality indicators.
  • Coordinate the data submission process to CIHI.
  • Lead the Nursing Restorative program in the home.
  • Mentor and coach the Nursing Restorative Therapists.
  • Orient new staff to the philosophy, policy, and criteria of Nursing Restorative Care.
  • Interpret legislative requirements to the nursing team and monitor compliance through continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Counsel staff in areas of non-compliance and inappropriate behavior.
  • Assist with the completion of staff probationary and annual performance reviews of nursing staff.
  • Engage in learning to develop emotional self-awareness and a person-centered approach.

Qualifications

  • Registered health professional licensed under the Health Disciplines Act in a Canadian jurisdiction.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with adult education strategies.
  • Ability to identify the training needs of team members.
  • Proficient computer skills and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work with interdisciplinary team members and internal stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of RAI-MDS – AIS certified as RAI Educator or completion within one month.
  • Skills in trending and analyzing data.
  • Knowledge of Quality Improvement.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in a long-term care setting.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience desired.
  • Evidence of focus on people’s feelings in interactions.
  • Meet all legal requirements within a context of promoting individuals’ rights and reducing risk.
  • Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Submit documented results of TB testing or a chest X-ray as per Public Health requirements.
  • Two supervisory references required.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment.
  • French or Italian speaking is an asset for specific residences.
