What is the Opportunity?
As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
Reporting to the responsible Survey Industrial Lead, this role will provide survey reporting and coordination within the DNNP Nuclear and Conventional Islands including the Reactor Building and Turbine Hall overall construction scope including containment, equipment, Reactor Pressure Vessel, and interface with other areas. During the validation and execution phases, they will be responsible for the accurate calculation and reporting of survey work and quantities in compliance with the contract and the job cost estimate.
What You'll Do Here :
- Prepare layout calculations and models from IFC drawings for layout use in survey instruments and project survey reporting deliverables.
- Daily processing of survey data files to update surface and as-built models, ground disturbance models, and updating of associated progress and quality reports from models.
- Draft Initial planning and engineering sketches of existing site conditions and proposed CI / NI structures and components for use by the site planning team.
- Processing and Registration of structured terrestrial and metrology scans for quality and as-built workflows, review scan data for conformance to site control network
- Attends planning meetings and anticipates the calculation and reporting requirements for upcoming activities.
- Reviews completed layout, as built and progress reports for accuracy and quality as per the project survey policies.
- Ensures adherence to project data management and drafting policies for all assigned work.
- General administration and reporting of survey department activities and daily reporting.
- Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc.
- Perform regular field tours to check survey progress and meet with project site personnel.
- Participate in Job Hazard assessments and site safety inspections.
- Participate in company-wide initiatives aimed at overall continuous improvement.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
What You Bring to the Table :
Minimum of 10 years Industrial Survey design and as-built drafting experience.Expertise in use of Cyclone, Spatial Analyzer, and other registration software for processing of laser scan data sets of structural, process mechanical or nuclear installations.Proficient with Civil 3D for processing survey points files and managing industrial survey data.Competent In Microsoft office applications and basic computing network configurations2 years nuclear or heavy civil construction experience is an asset.Must understand how to support a positive Nuclear Safety Culture.Ability to read and understand construction plans, piping isometrics, and specifications.Must have a full appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry.This posting is proactively seeking a Sr. Survey Coordinator to join the SMR-X project to support with future needs.
