Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will focus on producing a high quality product by leading employees to maintain a high level of awareness on safety, environmental and process compliance.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage the on-going development, performance, and day-to-day supervision of assigned shift personnel to maintain quality standards and increase production levels
- Plan and manage scheduling for the production team
- Provide manufacturing leadership in a unionized environment, including discipline and performance management as necessary
- Improve existing processes through lean tools and techniques and maintain all department documentation
- Identify training and development needs and provide coaching to achieve results
- Conduct training, cross training and rotation of employees for product, process and employee development
- Ensure employees are trained on procedures relating to safety, production, and quality
- Ensure adherence to company and OSHA safety regulations; conduct safety inspections as required
- Conduct weekly crew meetings to communicate safety, quality and production changes and goals
- Evaluate team members’ performance and progress toward skill improvements
- Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality
- Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Quality procedures
- Identify and resolve production issues, and assist in resolving quality production problems
- Investigate and prepare reports on safety near-misses, accidents and hazards identification
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times
- Work closely with other production supervisors to ensure consistency
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Post-secondary degree / diploma, preferably in industrial technology or engineering, business administration, or managementMinimum 5 years of hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role; experience in a high-speed, continuous process environment is an assetStrong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with hands-on problem-solving abilityStrong interpersonal and leadership skills to manage a diverse teamExcellent communication (written, verbal, and presentation) and analytical skillsProven track record of operational improvements through employee engagement and team buildingExcellent time management, planning, and organizational skillsProficient in MS OfficeExperience in a unionized manufacturing environment is an assetKnowledge of Workday time and attendance system is an assetHours and Expectations
12-hour shifts on a modified Dupont scheduleOpen availability, ability to work shifts, weekends and overtimeSubject to 24-hour on-call dutiesBenefits
