The Senior / Intermediate Stations Engineer plays a critical role in the successful delivery of substation projects. Working closely with internal stakeholders and multidisciplinary engineering teams, this position is responsible for executing engineering designs, preparing construction packages, supporting field execution, and leading project closeout activities.
Serving as the Engineer of Record for in‑house designs and as the Owner’s Engineer for outsourced work, the Senior Stations Engineer ensures all deliverables meet technical standards, schedules, and quality expectations. This role also provides technical leadership, oversees advanced engineering analyses, mentors junior engineers, and manages a diverse portfolio of complex projects with a strong focus on risk, safety, budget, and schedule performance.
This opening is based out of either Trail, BC or Kelowna, BC.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver substation engineering projects from concept through closeout
- Act as Engineer of Record for in‑house designs and Owner’s Engineer for outsourced engineering work
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, project managers, and engineering teams to execute designs and construction packages
- Perform and oversee advanced engineering and system analyses
- Provide construction and field support to ensure safe and effective execution
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes, and utility best practices
- Identify and manage technical, schedule, and cost risks across projects
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and contribute to team capability development
- Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge and support continuous improvement of engineering processes
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering3+ years of utility‑based substation engineering and project management experienceStrong technical knowledge of utility systems, including stations, transmission, distribution, and substation designProven experience in project execution, safe work practices, and multidisciplinary collaborationProficiency with AutoCAD, MS Office, Primavera, SharePoint, and power system analysis tools such as ETAP and CYME TCCNice to Have
