The Opportunity

Dechra is an international specialist of veterinary pharmaceuticals. Our expertise is in the development, manufacture, sales and marketing of high-quality products exclusively for veterinarians worldwide. The Technical Services Veterinarian (TSV) provides medical support of customers to empower them to optimize animal health outcomes when using our companion animal products. TSVs play a pivotal role in animal care by educating the veterinary profession on the practical application of our innovative products and offering valuable best practices solutions.

Role Responsibility

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied scope and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

  • Accompany Dechra field personnel on clinic calls. Deliver in-clinic educational presentations when needed (i.e., lunch and learns)
  • Present technical seminars at regional, local veterinary meetings or veterinary schools/colleges to support Dechra’s product line
  • Attend assigned veterinary conventions or other meetings to provide technical support and attend key lectures
  • Assist in developing/presenting sales training to Dechra personnel
  • Foster relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and collaborate on initiatives as required
  • Maintain technical competency especially in fields directly related to Dechra and competitor products
  • Monitor veterinary literature/VIN for articles/comments related to Dechra products/activities
  • Provide strategic input into creation of product promotional materials for assigned product portfolios. Review promotional materials for technical accuracy and to ensure compliance with marketing codes of conduct
  • Create technical marketing material, as needed, to educate internal and external customers on relevant disease conditions and product use
  • Act as a back up to the Technical Services/Pharmacovigilance (PV) Veterinarian by conducting Adverse Event and Technical Inquiry consultations, as needed. Document all consultations within the appropriate database and implement appropriate procedures in compliance with Dechra Canada PV Guidance Documents
  • Project a positive image of Dechra and its products to the veterinary profession and comply with all regulatory standards governing veterinary pharmaceuticals.
  • Other duties as assigned

Responsabilités principales

  • Accompagner les représentants Dechra sur la route lors des rendez-vous en cliniques. Procéder à des présentations éducatives en clinique si nécessaire (c.-à-d. « dîner et conférence »)
  • Présenter des séminaires techniques lors de réunions vétérinaires régionales et locales ou dans des écoles/collèges vétérinaires pour soutenir la gamme de produits Dechra.
  • Assister à des congrès vétérinaires assignés ou à d'autres réunions pour fournir un soutien technique et assister à des conférences clés.
  • Aider à développer/présenter une formation technique au personnel de Dechra.
  • Développer les relations avec les principaux leaders d'opinion et collaborer sur des initiatives selon les besoins.
  • Se tenir à jour quant aux compétences techniques, en particulier dans les domaines directement liés aux produits Dechra et de ses concurrents.
  • Surveiller la littérature vétérinaire/VIN pour les articles/commentaires liés aux produits/activités Dechra.
  • Fournir une contribution stratégique à la création de matériel promotionnel de produits pour les portefeuilles de produits assignés. Examiner le matériel promotionnel pour en vérifier l'exactitude technique et garantir le respect du code de conduite marketing.
  • Créer du matériel technique marketing selon les besoins, pour informer les clients internes et externes sur les maladies pertinentes et l'utilisation des produits.
  • Agir en tant que remplaçant du vétérinaire des services techniques/pharmacovigilance (PV) en menant des consultations sur les événements indésirables et les enquêtes techniques, au besoin. Documenter toutes les consultations dans la base de données appropriée et mettre en œuvre les procédures appropriées conformément aux procédures PV de Dechra Canada.
  • Projeter une image positive de Dechra et de ses produits auprès de la profession vétérinaire et respecter toutes les normes réglementaires régissant les produits pharmaceutiques vétérinaires.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bilingual (English/French) DVM/VMD with a minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience; current license to practice in at least one province preferred
  • Sound knowledge of or expertise in companion animal internal medicine
  • Ability to multi-task and enjoy working on a variety of projects including, but not limited to, technical bulletins, marketing projects, PowerPoint presentations, sales training modules, and provide market perspective on potential new products
  • Ability to critically evaluate technical materials and edit for clarity, content and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to assimilate/comprehend and critically review published literature
  • A passion and dedication to providing exceptional customer service
  • Outstanding organization, analytical, and judgment skills
  • Ability to work and perform in a team-based environment
  • Must be a self-starter and can work independent of supervision
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with maximum efficiency and productivity
  • Excellent computer skills, and proficient in MS Office platform,
  • Prior veterinary pharmaceutical industry experience, preferred
  • Ability to travel - on average 50%

Candidat idéal

  • DVM/DMV bilingue (anglais/français) avec un minimum de 3 à 5 ans d'expérience clinique ; un permis actuel pour exercer dans au moins une province est préférable
  • Bonne connaissance ou expertise en médecine interne des animaux de compagnie
  • Capacité à effectuer plusieurs tâches à la fois et aimer travailler sur une variété de projets, y compris, entre autres des bulletins techniques, des projets marketing, des présentations PowerPoint, des modules de formation pour les représentants et fournir une perspective de marché sur les nouveaux produits potentiels.
  • Capacité à évaluer de manière critique des documents techniques et à les modifier pour en assurer la clarté, le contenu et la conformité réglementaire.
  • Capacité à assimiler/comprendre et à examiner de manière critique la littérature publiée
  • Une passion et un dévouement à fournir un service client exceptionnel
  • Compétences exceptionnelles en matière d'organisation, d'analyse et de jugement
  • Capacité à travailler et à performer dans un environnement d'équipe
  • Doit être autonome et peut travailler indépendamment de toute supervision.

  • Excellentes compétences informatiques et maîtrise de la plateforme MS Office,
  • Expérience préalable dans l'industrie pharmaceutique vétérinaire sera considéré un atout
  • Capacité à voyager - en moyenne 50 %
