Transit Supervisor

Location : Leduc, AB

PWTransit is currently seeking a full-time Transit Supervisor to join our team in Leduc.

This highly rewarding and engaging opportunity is tailor-made for an experienced operator or industry professional with a focus on customer service and passenger satisfaction. Reporting to the Transportation Manager, you will supervise a group of approximately 15 Transit Operators, ensuring passenger needs are met and providing leadership and support for our team.

The supervisor would work split shifts. Monday to Friday from 4 : 30 am - 8 : 30 am, and in the afternoons 3 : 00 pm - 7 : 00 pm. May be required to work on the weekends to assist with vacation coverage.

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A combination of several years' experience as a Transit Operator and some Supervisory experience is preferred. However, a candidate with several years of experience in Management and or Supervision in related fields would be considered.
  • Experience in electronic information handling technology such as Dispatch software is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated aptitude for conflict resolution and customer service
  • Class 1 or 2 driver's license and air brake endorsement
  • Driver's abstract with no more than 3 demerit points
  • Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol screening
  • Clear criminal record
  • Ability to handle stressful situations in a composed manner
  • Customer service focus
  • Detailed knowledge of the Leduc area
  • Organization and ability to multi-task
  • Diplomacy and tact

Responsibilities :

  • This position consists of duties as both a driver and working in the office
  • Provide direct, on-road supervision of all transit operators
  • Monitor radio communications, activity at Transit Exchanges and respond to day to day on road operational issues
  • Ensure operating procedures are adhered to
  • Verify compliance (and correct staff if required) with statutes and regulations
  • Dispatch and make temporary changes to routing, driver and vehicle assignments as required by traffic, capacity, breakdowns or road and weather conditions. Changes to routing or detours will be communicated to the operations center and then to the public
  • Prepare weekly operator schedules
  • Prepare daily vehicle assignments, and communicate with maintenance
  • Complete formal incident investigations
  • Will ensure that incident / collision reports are completed when required
  • Will maintain a daily log of events including, but not limited to customer concerns, notes to driver records
  • Relay messages, and exchange information using a variety of communication devices, including computer-aided dispatching equipment
  • Use various computer applications and databases
  • Identify workplace safety hazards, as well as develop, and implement controls
  • Work with the manager to create yearly budgets
