Project Manager

We are looking for a Project Manager for our Peterborough, Ontario site. BWXT NEC's Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group is involved in the design, manufacture, development, testing, parts supply, and service of on‑power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery tooling sold around the world. We are the original designer of the automated systems that allow 24 / 7 on‑power refueling of CANDU reactors and aim to solve some of the nuclear industry’s most challenging problems. Today, BWXT’s equipment is being used in most of the nuclear power plants in Canada and is critical to delivering carbon free energy production and lifesaving medical isotopes.

Our Role

The Project Manager has ultimate accountability for their assigned projects (budget, schedule, and overall customer satisfaction) and ensures the company’s resources are properly directed for satisfactory contract execution. The Project Manager will lead projects with influence, and execute control over budgets, schedules and non‑technical communication. This position leads internal teams and reports to the Project Management Organization Manager.

Your Day to Day

• Lead diverse teams toward successful execution of assigned contracts.
• Provide effective leadership through communicating expectations and instilling accountability.
• Maintain the project schedule and register while leveraging project team support.
• Publish project reports as defined in the contract, accurately and timely.
• Ensure resources (human and other) are properly directed for satisfactory contract execution.
• Coordinate and support execution of planned activities; continually review plan effectiveness with the organization’s project team and client as needed.
• Understand, predict, adjust, and react to changes that may affect contract execution, using change management procedures; maintain baselines and preserve project performance data integrity.
• Support planning efforts necessary for the submission of contract proposals and changes.
• Support sub‑contracting efforts to ensure execution of contracts within client contract constraints.
• Balance client and organization expectations; elevate issues when mutual success is jeopardized.
• Identify, communicate, monitor, mitigate, and avoid risks during contract execution.
• Execute contracts within governance and departmental procedures; seek necessary approvals for deviations.
• Support continuous improvement of governance, procedures, tools, and best practices.
• Support Accounts Receivable in timely receipt of clients’ payments.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $85,000.00 and $126,000.00 per year, though total compensation may include additional elements such as annual cash incentive and benefits.
