Canadian Blood Services (CBS) is seeking an experienced leader to be its Director, Strategic Procurement (Director). Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and Vice-President, Corporate Services, the Director will provide strategic procurement guidance to functions across the CBS organization, specifically focused on commodities including information technology, facilities, plasma protein products, medical supplies and equipment, and professional services.
In this critical role, the Director will create a vision and strategy for transforming procurement to meet the current and future needs of CBS and will work closely with partners across the organization, including other members of the executive team and the Board of Directors, when required, to drive results and continuously improve the function.
Furthermore, the Director will lead, develop, and mentor a team of professionals to successfully implement the transformation agenda and deliver on the objectives of the procurement portfolio.
In summary, this role will be focused on ensuring that CBS continues to have a highly capable and business enabling procurement organization that meets the evolving needs of the organization.
As an ideal candidate you bring post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline and possess a Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation or an equivalent qualification.
You possess 10 plus years of progressive leadership experience in similar roles, ideally in a national or multi-regional organization.
Your expertise in strategic sourcing, complex procurement negotiations, and contract management is complimented by your knowledge of supply chain management and regulated industry standards such as ISO 9000, TQM, cGMP, or other equivalents.
You are known for your excellent interpersonal and communication skills, your ability to influence, and your effective team building and leadership skills.
