Wainwright has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Head Nurse in their active rural hospital. This position is responsible for coordinating a multi-disciplinary team and providing clinical leadership. The successful applicant will coordinate workflow functions; assign daily duties to clerical and nursing staff; and directs the workflow in the department by evaluating and reassessing priorities. Identifies individual learning needs and provides an environment conducive to learning. The AHN is a change agent and facilitates quality improvement and change management with their team. Participates in developing, establishing, maintaining, and evaluating standards of care, standard operating procedures and priority pathways. The Assistant Head Nurse is a self-directed professional who functions as an integral team leader in a clinical leadership role. The AHN is a role model and mentor and sets the tone for a positive work environment. Contributes feedback related to staff learning and development. Description
As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Job Details
Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications
Demonstrated passion for rural nursing and development of staff. Minimum 5 years current nursing experience in an Acute Care or ED setting.
Preferred Qualifications
ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, PALS, EPICC, NRP – Preference will be given to applicants with 3 of 6. Recent involvement with process improvement / quality initiatives and or working groups.
