The Mackenzie Investments Legal Department is currently recruiting for the position of Legal Counsel Asset Management. Reporting to the Assistant-Vice President Legal Asset Management you will work closely with a group of legal professionals and business leaders across IGM Financials asset management businesses (Mackenzie Investments and IG Wealth Management). Mackenzie Investments is a holistic asset-management partner for thousands of Canadian financial advisors and theinvestorsthey support.

The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of projects and will work collaboratively with colleagues in the IG Wealth Management and Mackenzie Investments legal teams. You will receive feedback and support to refine and continue to grow your legal skills and abilities.

The primary responsibilities include:

• Drafting prospectuses and material contracts for mutual funds and ETFs
• Supporting product development and strategic initiatives by providing practical insight and business-oriented legal advice to key internal stakeholders
• Supporting institutional investment management activities in Canada and other jurisdictions
• Reviewing marketing materials for compliance with applicable laws
• Participating in regulatory review and analysis by engaging with the broader legal team Canadas various securities regulators and other market participants
• Preparing exemptive relief applications
• Negotiating agreements with third parties (e.g. trading documentation service agreements other corporate contracts)

Key requirements for this role include:

• 1-4 years of experience as a lawyer at a large law firm or as in-house counsel for a major financial services institution
• Licensed to practice law in Manitoba Ontario or Quebec
• Experience with derivatives institutional work or private asset transactions is highly desirable
• Strong academic background
• Proven team player
• Ability to work independently to proactively bring projects to completion
• Superior time management and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to analyze complex problems and action practical solutions

The expected annual base salary range for this role is ($108500 - $135500) which is determined based on skills knowledge and experience and geographic addition to base salary this role is eligible for annual short-term incentive health and well-being benefits retirement and savings plan paid time off and career development.
