Practice Leader, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence

Other Possible Location(s) : Toronto, Ontario; Montreal, Quebec

Join the Data Strategy, Governance and Analytics team, which is responsible for transforming our analytical capabilities to make data the center of our business strategies.

As the Practice Leader in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, you will be the central point for defining the vision and innovative solutions for advanced analytics and artificial intelligence in collaboration with the analytical teams.

You will serve the entire sector, including Pricing, New Business, Claims, Sales, Customer and Advisor Experience, Marketing, Product Development, and Administration.

Job responsibilities :

  • Develop a long-term vision and action plan for the evolution of the data science and artificial intelligence practice in the sector.
  • Identify development opportunities and improvements for advanced analytics and artificial intelligence models to meet business needs in collaboration with the entire sector.
  • Decide on scientific methodologies to be applied, taking into account ethical, regulatory, technological, and business constraints.
  • Act as a lead in the operationalization of proofs of concept.
  • Develop expertise in data science within the sector (modeling, programming, statistical concepts, versioning, etc.).
  • Evolve expertise, methods, and tools related to data science and artificial intelligence specific to individual insurance, particularly through monitoring trends and best practices.

Do you have the following qualifications?

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or other related field.
  • Master's or Ph.D. in a related field (an asset).
  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in data science, actuarial science, or business intelligence.
  • Experience in the insurance or financial services industry (an asset).
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL, Azure DataBricks, Snowflake, Power BI, and other data modeling / dmachine learning technologies.
  • Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written, due to frequent interactions with colleagues or external partners in Canada and the United States.

  • Ability to effectively work at the strategic level and exchange ideas and information with senior management.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and presentation skills to effectively explain complex analysis results to a non-technical audience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to coach colleagues.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate initiative and proactivity and dare to go beyond what is asked.
