Position Summary
Reporting to the Assoc. Director Human Resources with a dotted line to Recruitment Manager, the HR Generalist will provide HR functions for Canadian business operations related to recruitment, employee relations, talent development and performance management, compliance, and compensation and benefits.
They will partner with the field, create trust, and earn credibility to work closely with operations management and employees.
The successful candidate for this position will be fully bilingual in English / French.
Primary / Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Generalist : Manage all employee trackers, Conduct initial intake of employee concerns / investigation statements, Maintain NAVEX database, Assist with union items / checks, HR reporting, Compensation research / audits Push HR programs / initiatives, etc.
- Recruitment : Sources, screens, and interviews job applicants for all craft hourly openings Track candidate progress, generate offer letters, schedule orientations, Track, manage and analyze monthly and annual recruitment data Manage campus recruitment, attend job fairs, and assist in building relationships with different programs Assist in developing social media platforms with support of Marketing.
- Conduct trainings in French
- Conduct interviews in French
- Assist with English to French translation
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of HR experience
- Fully bilingual in French / English is required
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational development or relevant technical discipline required
- Must have knowledge of Ontario and Quebec labour legislation and the Employment Standards Act.
- Familiar with labour unions and CCQ agreements in Quebec is preferred but not required
- Strong time management and organization skills
- The ability to manage multiple competing priorities at once.
- A self-starter who can proactively research employment law and compliance for multiple provinces.
- Willing to step in and support HR team with benefits, HRIS, labour issues and employee management.
- Self-driven and delivers results.
- Industry knowledge is a plus but not required.
- Excellent communication skills; written, verbal and presentation in both English and French
- Superior technical abilities to utilize our HRIS, applicant tracking system, and related programs; ability to provide technical training in these programs to field personnel
- The ability and desire to work as a team player, within the field organizations and HR department
- Demonstrates significant problem-solving abilities and highly refined analytical skills

- Hybrid work environment, based near Guelph, ON
- 10% travel
- Frequently sits for long periods of time
- Frequently speaks, reads, writes, and uses a computer keyboard
