Procurement and Commodity Manager – Distribution sector Greater Vancouver, BC (hybrid opportunity)Our client is an industry leader and national distributor within their niche sector. They are looking for a supply chain champion to lead their organization as a Procurement and Commodity Manager. Our client is looking for someone that is comfortable collaborating and able to ‘wear many hats’ within this role. Responsibilities range from purchasing, contract negotiations, inventory management, demand planning and forecasting, vendor management and selection, as well as freight & logistics. Working within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, this role will allow you the opportunity to make a significant impact to both the operational arm, but as well the sales side of this mature business.The Procurement and Commodity Manager will also have a significant ‘voice’, reporting directly to the VP of Finance, to help direct and support the company’s direction and future growth strategies. Once you have been onboarded, to support work life balance, this position will take on a hybrid functionality to work remotely for part of the week. Responsibilities
- Take lead on purchasing, and logistics / freight requirement (locally / regionally / globally)
- Develop forecasts with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate inventory
- Ensure compliance with industry regulatory requirements
- Develop strong negotiation culture
- Develop key metrics and reporting to monitor supply chain effectiveness
- Negotiate with local and international suppliers, as well, prepare price comparisons, and cost savings analysis
- Assess, monitor, and mitigate risks by reviewing supplier financial statements / reports and evaluate overall supplier health; identify opportunities to minimize risk
- Provides purchasing team planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends; forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
- Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items, monitoring and expediting orders
- Manage the quality control process to ensure customers are only receiving top quality products
- Maximize margins and inventory turns by communicating with stakeholders and ensuring the optimal balance of product cost is achieved
- Build solid relationships with supply partners to align expectations with capabilities and needs
- Oversee the set up and execution of vendor agreements with suppliers
- Ensure appropriate and accurate inventory levels are maintained for products
- Deal with issues regarding freight costs and customs clearance of goods ordered overseas
Qualifications
7+ years direct experience within the supply chain (Purchasing, Logistics, Demand Planning, Inventory Management, Commodity Management) from an industrial or distribution settingDiploma / Degree in related field, such as Supply Chain, Business, or International Trade, is considered essentialComfortable running independently (hands-on), as well in a teamSupply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) would be an assetIndustry related experience is an asset, preferably in a commodity-based fields that involve connection and communication with a global supplier baseStrong understanding of seasonality within the supply chain function is a MUSTProven aptitude in problem solvingExcellent written, verbal skills, with impeccable attention to detailA team player and leader who works well in a fast-paced ever-changing environmentTotal Rewards A competitive wage and annual incentive plan, alongside a comprehensive benefits package, which includes Extended Health and Dental coverage, and RRSP matching.If you are looking for an opportunity to grow professionally within a company, apply for this position today!
