Weed Inspector - Agricultural Services (Seasonal)

Opportunity

Leduc County is looking for experienced and highly motivated Weed Inspectors – Seasonal to join our team for the May – August season and May – October season. Reporting to the Manager – Agricultural Services, this exciting opportunity consists of inspecting properties to prevent and control the spread of noxious and prohibited weeds in Leduc County. As a member of the Agricultural Services team, the Weed Inspector contributes to the achievement of the department’s operational deliverables.

What you will do

• Contributes to the delivery of the department’s agricultural program by performing work and adhering to technical, departmental and municipal standards.
• Performs noxious and prohibited noxious weed management in compliance with the Alberta Weed Control Act and Regulation.
• Assists with development of plans for the elimination of noxious and prohibited noxious weeds in the County.
• Inspects and issues notices to landowners, as required, for weed-infestation areas.
• Follow-up for compliance regarding issued weed notices.
• Remedies areas of noxious weeds within County property.
• Completes weed surveys and other required documentation for the Federal Agricultural and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) and Provincial Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation.
• Adheres to guidelines as set out in Leduc County’s policies and administrative directives.
• Accountable for working in compliance with the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code and participation in the Health, Safety and Wellness Program.
• Performs related duties as required and assigned.

We offer a competitive hourly wage of between $22.65 - $28.31. The opportunity is seasonal full‑time and is 40 hours per week, with some extended hours to meet operational requirements.
