Job Description
The primary function of the role is to perform various tasks within the Agricultural Services Department, including roadside mowing, vegetation control, seeding, parks and recreation area upgrades, and roadside tree and brush removal. This position involves safe equipment operation, maintenance, record-keeping, and compliance with safety regulations and requirements.
Daily Work Activities Include :
- Safely operate roadside mowing equipment, roadside seeding equipment, and machinery for parks and recreation area upgrades.
- Ensure safe operation of equipment for roadside vegetation control and off-road vegetation control.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and requirements applicable to the job.
- Perform maintenance and repair of equipment, including tractors, rotary mowers, seeding equipment, and park machinery.
- Assist with equipment inspections to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Maintain accurate records relevant to job tasks and equipment usage.
- Assist with municipal duties assigned by Manager of Agricultural Services,
- Assistant Agricultural Fieldmen, and the Ag Foreman.
- Participate in training sessions specific to assigned tasks and equipment operation within the M.D. of Taber.
Requirements
Education and Knowledge Required :
Valid Class 5 driver's license.Physical ability to perform duties associated with operations.Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication.Proficiency in both written and verbal communication.Excellent organizational skills to maintain consistent, productive work output.Requirements
Education and Knowledge Required :
Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education.Familiarity with municipal operations, road construction, and procurement.Comprehensive knowledge of regulations and compliance. Experience and Technical Skills Required :3-5 years of experience in Municipal / Public Works or environmental contracting.Supervisory experience in road and infrastructure construction and repairs.Valid Class 5 Operator's License or willingness to upgrade.Ability to coordinate Alberta One-Call and manage heavy construction equipment.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Strong organization and leadership skills.
