Objective : Reporting to the Data & Analytics Director within the IT department, the Data Engineer will play a key role in the growth of the Data and Analytics practice at Joseph Ribkoff. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize data pipelines and models that support business intelligence and analytics solutions. You will work closely with data analysts, business stakeholders, and data architects to ensure efficient data delivery, integrity, and usability.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL / ELT data pipelines using Snowflake.
- Integrate data from multiple sources (SQL databases, APIs, cloud storage, etc.) into centralized data platforms.
- Optimize data workflows for performance and cost in cloud-based environments.
- Build and maintain data models and data marts to support Power BI reporting and analytics.
- Ensure data quality, security, and governance through monitoring and validation.
- Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.
- Contribute to the technical documentation of data flows.
- Drive best practices in data modelling, performance optimization, and metadata management.
- Continuously look for improvements to the platform.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or similar roles.Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field (Information Technology, Data Engineering, Computer Science, etc.).Knowledge of Agile / Scrum / Kanban methodology.Strong interest in cloud computing technologies and modern platforms.Ability to transform business requirements into technical specifications and intuitive visualizations.Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.Experience in data migration to a cloud platform.Effective communication with internal and external team members.Good understanding of the customer's business issues and data challenges.Excellent team spirit and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.Good communication skills in French and English, written and spoken.Knowledge of the manufacturing, distribution, and / or retail industry is an asset.Technical Skills
High proficiency in SQL.Good knowledge of data modelling (SQL DB, Power BI service, SSIS, SSRS, stored procedures).Expertise in Snowflake (e.g., Virtual Warehouses, Snowpipe, Time Travel).Experience building and maintaining Power BI solutions, including DAX, Power Query, and workspace management.Programming languages such as Python or R for data integration contexts.Knowledge of the Microsoft Power Platform components (Power Automate, Power Apps, etc.).Knowledge of CI / CD pipelines and DevOps practices in data projects.Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Azure is an asset.Experience with dbt, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or similar tools is an asset.Joseph Ribkoff is an equal opportunity at‑will employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of age, race, religion, color, disability, sex, sexual orientation or national origin.
