Join our dynamic Waste Services team as an Environmental Engineer and play a critical role in the Citys commitment to sustainability and compliance. Reporting to the Senior Engineer the primary focus of this position is to assist in the management of environmental facilities including the Clover Bar landfills and issues at the Edmonton Waste Management Center (EWMC) and other Waste Services locations.

You will be instrumental in providing essential environmental engineering services across all Waste Services operations managing critical infrastructure like the landfill gas collection and leachate transfer systems and offering technical expertise for groundwater surface water and air quality across the EWMC and eco-stations.

This role requires a candidate with a foundational understanding of best practices who can navigate complex regulatory requirements manage compliance issues and interpret technical concepts for non-technical staff. Working alongside a team of specialists you will contribute to strategic policy decisions including the Citys GHG Management programsand drive efficiency as Waste Services continuously evolves and adopts new technologies. • Environmental Civil or Chemical Engineering
• Must be a Professional Engineer (.) with APEGA in good standing. Applicants in a different Canadian jurisdiction eligible for Inter-Provincial Mobility (IPMA) with APEGA may be considered. Registration with APEGA must be obtained prior to commencement of employment
• Minimum of 4 years progressively responsible experience in a technical role within a large complex unionized organization
• Experience to include civil design work and contract management
• Knowledge and experience in the waste management field and in the municipal infrastructure field including environmental and safety regulations and ISO 14001 standards
