Job description

A Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for a dependable, highly motivated individual for the position of Environmental Services II (cleaner / housekeeper trained to work in healthcare). The successful candidate will be dedicated to high‑quality work and safety, and will receive training to safely clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical areas, office areas, and other common staff / public areas in accordance with Alberta Health Services standards and practices. Shift schedules may include a combination of days, evenings, and weekend shifts.

Primary Responsibilities

Operate industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance, thorough washing of ceilings and windows, and emptying hazardous waste.
Provide intensive or specialized cleaning within a hospital or facility using industrial cleaning supplies and powered equipment.
Provide training or orientation to Environmental staff.

Required Qualifications

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.

Knowledge and operation of a computer including Microsoft Office.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform repetitive movements during a shift.

Physically capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 30 lbs.

Additional Required Qualifications

Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively.

Follow oral and written instruction.

Basic knowledge and operation of a computer and a smartphone.

Dependable and capable of working with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous cleaning experience.

Experience performing cleaning duties in a healthcare environment.
