Job description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Self Storage team. As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily maintenance activities of the lockers and the site, ensuring a clean well-maintained operation while maintaining a safe working environment for staff and customers. Your team participation and customer service-oriented approach to your job, will be instrumental in supporting our mission to provide exceptional service to our customers.

The incumbent will be responsible to :

  • Daily meeting with the Operation Manager to review daily tasks.
  • Daily inspection and cleaning of the lockers and the property (sweep, mop, interior hallways)
  • Daily pest control inspection
  • Daily utility check (lighting, plumbing, gates)
  • Daily comprehensive building inspection (doors, aisles free, cleanliness)
  • Regular inspection of the container lockers for rust, potential leakages and damages
  • Landscaping and exterior maintenance (including Powerwashing, painting)
  • Signage and visibility
  • Scheduling annual fire safety system inspection
  • Maintain a maintenance record
  • Budget planning for repairs and upgrades
  • Managing approved vendors and service providers
  • Maintain effective communication with the office to relay any changes in the daily schedule promptly.
  • Manage yard supply purchases, maintaining adequate inventory levels.
  • Participate in monthly management reviews to provide insights and suggest improvements.
  • Report incidents involving staff, customers, and damage to locker units and buildings, following established procedures.
  • Manage customer interactions, including showing potential new customers available units.
  • Attend to administrative tasks as and when determined by the Operation Manager

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in maintaining building and property.
  • Strong communication skills and a team player.
  • Excellent organizational abilities to manage schedules, equipment, and resources effectively.
  • A keen eye for safety, with a track record of promoting and enforcing safety protocols.
  • Previous experience in property management is preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Valid Driving License and a clean driving record
  • Must be able to work legally in Canada
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems is a positive asset
