Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT’s impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.

In this hands-on role, you will provide technical and governance services to Global Functions Technology (GFT) for Tech currency compliance. Services such as providing technical analysis and solutions, data consolidation, planning, governance and reporting support.

As a member of the GFT Tech Currency team which is collectively responsible for governing compliance and support for IT application components such as hardware, software, Databases, operating systems, middleware items of over 300 production applications. You will have ample opportunity to develop your professional skills and positively influence technology compliance across RBC’s Global Functions Technology (GFT) group. What will you do?

Technical

Using a variety of data sources and connections; assess, design, develop, maintain and implement technical solutions for the PCO governance needs, exploring options and recommending solutions for continuous improvements

Manage, support and execute daily technical reconciliation solution and processes for our Tech currency Portal

Develop plans and accurate estimates for completion of requirements, continuously improving and supporting delivery of solutions.

Work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues, where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors

Develops and maintains complete, accurate and up-to-date technical documentation. Ensure cross training, coaching, sharing information with team-mates to ensure seamless knowledge transfer and support is maintained.

Tech Currency Governance to keep applications and their infrastructure current, resilient and sustainable thereby reducing the risk of cyber security or operational incidents due to insufficient patching or reliance on unsupported HW / SW and minimizing regulatory, financial and / or stakeholder impact.

Develops and maintains strong relations and collaborations within COO and across GFT stakeholders that we work with

Ongoing monitoring of initiative timelines and support our application partners in order to help them achieve their deadline deliveries.

Execute governance investigations, communications, reporting, Connect site and Sharepoint site.

Issue and risk management

Actions requests from the group mailbox. Escalating any items for program attention as required.

Support status meetings and other governance meetings held with various leads or application teams across the various initiatives governed by this PCO.

Trigger issues and risks mitigation process for program attention as required

General

Assess opportunities, make recommendations and support enhancements to PCO process improvements that enhance governance of the initiatives.

Promote teamwork and implement best practices arising from the ongoing monitoring of initiatives governed within the Resiliency program.

Continually enhance skills and build knowledge in all aspects of the organization, the business and information systems as well as ongoing personal development of data storage and analytic tools.

Understand technical currency processes in order to identify solutions and action with our partners across the verticals.

Relationships & Communication

Provide superior client experience and strengthen relationship with our various partners using a variety of communication techniques and collaboration.

Collaborates with colleagues across the organization to get things done.

Provides or supports provision of status reports; such as bi-weekly upcoming, overdue, or not scheduled reports, Application compatibility testing progress, new initiative announcements etc.

Provides timely updates on initiative progress and assessment of gaps and identification of tasks and activities not in good order for escalation and correction.

Resolves conflicts / issues with a partnership and service mind-set. Escalates when appropriate.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have :

2+ years of experience in a Project control office (PCO) environment or service delivery that includes project planning and PCO governance standards / activities.

Proficient to Expert Knowledge with demonstrated experience with programming and data management tools / technologies (SQL DBs, MS Access, various automation tools)

Advanced experience with Excel, including use of pivot tables and macros , Sharepoint

Strong analytical and data organization skills

High degree of self-initiative and sense of urgency

Ability to handle ambiguity and work independently

Nice-to-have :

Understanding of various application technologies in use at RBC (OS, DBs, Middleware, application software)

Highly inquisitive with focus on personal development and adoption of new tools and techniques

Strong focus on simplification, efficiency, and automation of routine activities

Demonstrated service oriented / support experience.

Excellent written & verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to general IT or managers.
