Job description

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop new business rules based on image data analysis, key findings, and root causes
  • Develop and produce machine vision algorithms to identify safety defects on railway structure
  • Support case developments for new technology purchases and / or process integrations based on data analysis results to improve railway safety and efficiency
  • Propose new processes and technologies to improve investigation data retrieval and processing capabilities
  • Define requirements and work with IT staff to incorporate all technological changes
  • Control and filter access to Track Systems Data requests
  • Pull data queries including derailment information
  • Performs periodic quality inspection reviews of the TEC output to ensure the quality and reliability of the data
  • Develop / Publish Rail Profile Plots / Reports for Capital Planning
  • Provide vacation relief within Track Geometry group

POSTION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering / computer science from an accredited university OR 5 years of railway experience in Engineering Services
  • Experience implementing data mining and machine learning concepts OR evidence of project work in school in artificial intelligence fields
  • Experience with AWS and / or other cloud providers
  • Experience with applying machine learning modelling to image data
  • Experience in Data analysis and the ability to draw conclusions and communicate results, Prior exposure to Geometry Brush Charts (WinDBC, ARIES, GEOEdit, RailEdit)
  • Exceptional communication skills for multiple audiences with diverse levels of experience
  • May require compiling data records / request outside of normal business hours
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s permit
  • Valid passport, ability to travel to US / CAN without restrictions
